DEFEND DIGITAL ME

2021-2023

Defend Digital Me is a call to action to protect children’s rights to privacy and family life. The organisation is working towards safe, fair and transparent data, as part of a vision for a rights’ respecting environment in state education, in England, and beyond.

Working part time for Defend Digital Me as a digital communications lead, I have produced marketing material, managed and planned social media content/ campaign launches, created video animations and built on Defend Digital Me’s online presence through stronger branding, increasing the organisation’s engagement and follower count.

A stronger brand identity was developed using the existing content and building upon it. A series of communications guidelines were created including font choice, colour schemes, imagery and general themes which were chosen to help push the friendly/ inclusive yet informative tone DDM aims to present.

The topic of data privacy can sometimes be an uncomfortable, confusing or sensitive subject due to the nature of the issues surrounding it. By incorporating yellow into the DDM colour scheme, it has helped to create a less intimidating and corporate feel. It also helps to break up the classic DDM pink which despite being a staple part of the DDM branding, could be overwhelming if used too much.
